PiWars

PiWars is a non-destructive robot competition, with autonomous and remote-controlled challenges, where the robots are limited to roughly the size of a piece of A4 paper. PiWars robots must have a Raspberry Pi as their “brain”.

The competition takes place over one weekend each year (COVID permitting) around the end of March.

Due to the high volume of applicants we failed to get into the 2018 competition. However, we used the time to start building a robot for the next year. In 2019, not only were we successful in getting a place in the competition, but we also managed to win first place in the advanced category!

In 2021 the competition was reworked so that entries were submitted by video (so that it could continue even with COVID restrictions in place).  The games were also postponed until July to allow school teams more time to prepare.

The 2022 games were also “at home”, following the format used in 2021. We have just submitted our videos, so are waiting for the results. Wish us luck!
